How much time would it take to remember every detail of something?
An hour? A month? A lifetime?
Picture something you have seen in some way throughout your entire life...
for example an OREO cookie. Can you envision it enough to draw it accurately?
Now compare that vision to the real thing...
More complicated than you remembered?
So... how much of our visual memory gets simplified in our minds?
Lesson: Never underestimate the power of observation! It is all about the seen details!
Task: A diagnostic drawing from observation is a ONE PERIOD drawing exercise without instruction used as a way for Art educators to assess an Art students prior knowledge and drawing experience while introducing them to classroom procedures and expectations of Studio in Art. Students are invited to eat their OREOS when completing their Diagnostic drawings if they choose. :)
